Who is Miss sixx?
..For I am not
just another poet
My goal? To take you on journey with my flow
Its all about
transcending space and time
while I teach to the beat of
rhythms and rhymes...
Meet the hostess of the podcast In the Middle with Sixx.
Author, poet, actress, singer – and now podcast hostess, are just a few of the titles held by Alison "Miss Sixx" McMeans. Her newest project In the Middle with Sixx explores the intersection of sex, race and religion with comedy and insight. She uses this platform to challenge traditions based in systematic oppression and fear in the faith-based community.
In 2014, she published her first book 15th and East Capitol: A Collection of Poems and Short Stories, a candid, canny and sexy glimpse into the complexities of this Black woman and her journey to define her place in this world. For a preview, click here.
She has featured as a spoken word artist at multiple venues including Busboys and Poets, and acted with Connecticut Cabaret, Hartford Children's Theatre, and Ma Peach Productions. She has also been a facilitator for workshops focusing on self-esteem and positive body image based on her work as Co-Creator for The Thick Chronicles: A Body Image Story.
